About Us
Visual art education is a vital component for a well-rounded education. It not only allows students to develop essential life skills, but also fosters creativity and critical thinking abilities. Through Joyful Art CENTER, we make visual art education accessible to everyone in our community, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder artistic pursuits.
Cristie Baron
Founder & CEO
Cristie Baron is the founder and CEO of Joyful Art Center, and dedicated to making meaningful creative experiences accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
Cristie believes art is about much more than creating a finished product. It is a way to build confidence, explore ideas, connect with others, and find your voice. That philosophy is at the heart of Joyful Art Center, where programs are designed to encourage creativity and individual expression while creating a welcoming place for people to learn and belong.
An artist and arts educator herself, Cristie continues to maintain her own creative practice alongside her work at Joyful. She works across a variety of media and has completed commissioned public art projects in partnership with organizations including Visit Vacaville and the Vacaville Museum. Her work as a practicing artist continues to influence the way she approaches teaching, curriculum, and community-based art experiences.
Cristie is especially passionate about expanding access to the arts. Under her leadership, Joyful Art Center has grown beyond traditional studio classes to include Adaptive Arts, youth and teen programming, adult workshops, community art projects, school and organizational partnerships, and arts experiences for underserved and at-risk populations.
She also believes strongly in the power of collaboration. Cristie works with artists, educators, nonprofits, community organizations, and local leaders to create opportunities for people who may not otherwise see themselves represented or welcomed in traditional arts spaces.
Whether she is working on her own artwork, developing a new community partnership, teaching, or dreaming up the next big project for Joyful, Cristie's goal remains the same: to help build a more creative, confident, and connected community through art.
